On Sunday 19th February Kerry de Courcy will present a special Sabrage Sunday Break at Rye Lodge Hotel, an official Caveau of the International Confrerie du Sabre d’Or.

Guests will arrive during the course of Sunday afternoon and settle into their comfortable rooms where they will find fresh flowers, fruit, chocolates and a half bottle of Philippe Brugnon Champagne to welcome them!

 

At 7.00 pm there will be a Champagne Reception and Sabrage attended by the UK Ambassador Julian White. At 8.00pm a Special Gala Dinner will be served in the Terrace Room with accompanying Champagnes and wines. Finally Coffee and Liqueurs will be served in the lounge.

On the Monday morning you will enjoy a hearty breakfast in the Terrace Room or, if you wish, Room Service will bring breakfast to you in your room. Before, or after, breakfast you can swim in the delightful Venetian Pool, have a Sauna or maybe an Aromatherapy Steam Bath. For the energetic there are also walking and cycling machines available!

The morning will be at leisure, so you will have an opportunity to explore Rye. Popular with visitors since Queen Elizabeth I visited in 1573 and dubbed the town ‘Rye Royal’. Rye Lodge is within the citadel and all the attractions of this ancient town, including St Mary’s Church) and the historic Ypres Tower, are close by. Coffee and biscuitswill be served in the Terrace Lounge at 11.00am for those who people would like it and at 12 noon Kerry de Courcy will present ‘In Celebration of Champagne’; a light hearted presentation upon the history of Champagne and some of its illustrious names. At 12.45 pm we will present a tasting of some of the finest Prestige Cuvees in the world. These will include Louis Roederer’s Crystal Brut, Pol Roger’s ‘Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill’, Dom Perignon 2002 and Dom Ruinart 1993. Following this a 5 course Tasting Lunch with Champagne and fine wines will be served followed by coffee.

Sabrage events throughout the year

A bespoke sabrage event can be booked for parties, to add to a special celebration or as a corporate event throughout the year. Please call us for further information.

Rye Lodge will also host Sabrage events for small numbers of guests at other dates during the year, so if you are unable to join us in February but would like to enjoy this most special of evenings please call us on 01797 23838 and we will let you know when other Sabrage evenings are planned.
