A History in Hotels
Kerry de Courcy has owned and run leading hotels for fifty years in England, Scotland and the Isle of Man. After aquiring Rye Lodge he undertook a major programme of refurbishment. In addition to personally redesigning the bedrooms and hall and lounge, Mr de Courcy created the Venetian Leisure centre with its pool and spa from the former ballroom and added balconies to several of the Superior deluxe bedrooms. "I loved the challenges presented by transforming Rye Lodge into a really exceptional small hotel, and feel we have created something really special for the enjoyment of our guests", said Mr de Courcy.
After many years of dedicated work with professional bodies for the hospitality industry, Kerry de Courcy was awarded the MBE in 2008.
Understanding Fine Wines
Rye Lodge has an exceptional wine cellar to rival that of many leading restaurants and city hotels.
Rye Lodge is fortunate to have as its Cellar Master Peter Warne. His experience ensures that you will be able to enjoy both the lastest and rarest vintages in perfect condition. You may like to arrange a wine cellar visit as part of your break at Rye Lodge, or join us for a Champagne appreciation break when you can learn about the history and manufacture of the King of Wines.
