A Churchillian Interlude

A very special all inclusive two night break in which we celebrate the life and achievements of the great man, and visit his former home in convivial company. Relax in luxurious surroundings as we pamper you at Rye Lodge, and enjoy the delights of Rye - a town full of fascinating history.
We are finalising dates with Chartwell for this summer's interlude. Please express your interest by telephone or email as soon as possible, so we can reserve your place on this very special break.

Our coach leaves to drive through the Sussex and Kent countryside to arrive at Chartwell, Sir Winston Churchill’s country home for over 40 years. |

Arrival at Chartwell when, subject to fine weather, we will explore the garden prior to pre-lunch drinks. |

Pre-lunch drinks will be served in the Mulberry Room. |

Lunch with wine in the Mulberry Room.
Following lunch at about 1.45 pm we will have a private talk on Sir Winston, his family and their life at Chartwell.
Following this talk you will be free to explore the whole of Chartwell seeing Lady Churchill’s bedroom, kept as it was 50 years ago, Sir Winston’s study and his desk where he wrote some of his most inspiring speeches of World War II and the dining room where he entertained world famous figures.

“Churchill & Champagne” - A light hearted presentation about Champagne Pol Roger, the Champagne House that supplied Sir Winston for many years and named their Prestige Cuvee –The Sir Winston Churchill Cuvee in honour of their most celebrated customer. You will taste this famous Champagne which retails at around £100 a bottle. |

Guests may depart or, for those staying on, a visit can be arranged to the famous Wartime Tunnels in Dover Cliffs. [It was from here that so much of the war was controlled, and many Battle of Britain pilots, shot down in the channel, were treated in the underground hospital. A visit to these tunnels, first dug in the time of Napoleon and enlarged during WWII, makes a fascinating day out.] |
Gala Dinner
Our Churchill Gala Dinner will be held in the elegant, marble-floored Terrace Room Restaurant, especially reserved for Churchilian Interlude guests for the evening.
Rye Lodge prides itself on the quality of our food and fine wines. With excellent attentive service and the company of new friends who have shared your special history break, our candle-lit evening will provide a fitting conclusion to a very special break.

Of course you may extend your stay either before or after the special break at your discretion. Normal rates will apply but the two nights of the Churchill Interlude will count towards the rate, so if you decide to stay an extra night or two, you will be charged the three to six night rate for any extra nights.

For a limited period, subject to availability, we are pleased to offer guests making last minute bookings room, dinner and breakfast for only £75 per person for stays not including Friday or Saturday night.
You are guaranteed one of our comfortable Standard rooms but we will upgrade you to best Standard or De Luxe room available on arrival at no extra cost to you.
You will enjoy a delicious three course dinner with coffee and Full English breakfast – in bed if you wish, plus the full use of our exclusive leisure centre with its pool sauna and spa bath. For a small extra cost you could even arrive in style in our Silver Wraith II Rolls Royce! Superior de luxe rooms may be reserved at a supplement of £20 per person per night.
